Ernst Malmsten wrote about the experience in a book called Boo Hoo: A dot.com Story from Concept to Catastrophe, published in 2001.
Since Ernst Malmsten is both the founder of boo.com and the co-author of this book, you would expect trenchant analysis of the business and the frenzied Internet bubble of the time. But Malmsten has zero self-insight. He recounts facts and numbers and decision but never once reflects on the rightness or intelligence of those decisions. Boohoo describes the story of the first Internet casualty. The late nineties were the height of the Internet bubble. It was the era of venture capitalists and Internet entrepreneurs.

So said boo.com CEO Ernst Malmsten, on May 18th 2000. Half the investment was raised, but this was too little, too late, and at midnight, less than a year after its launch, Boo.com closed. The headlines in the Financial Times, the next day read: "Boo.com collapses as Investors refuse funds; Online Sports retailer becomes Europe's first big Internet casualty".
The author Ernst Malmsten doesn’t feel sorry for playing with the lives of his employees, nor the ridiculous waste of money that Boo went through. Ernst Malmsten, co-founder of online fashion and sports retailer boo.com, wrote this book because he realized it "could serve to capture all the
